Magnesium Ionization Energy
The Magnesium Ionization Energy is the energy required to remove from atom one mole of electrons with subsequent production of positively charged ion of Magnesium.
Mg -> Mg+ + e- This process can be repeated many times, but the energy cost is increased dramatically. The general equation for the Magnesium is: MgN+ -> Mg(N+1)+ + e- Ionization Energy
Mg -> Mg1+ = 737.7 kJ/mol = 176.48 Kcal/mol
Mg1+ -> Mg2+ = 1450.7 kJ/mol = 347.06 Kcal/mol Mg2+ -> Mg3+ = 7732.6 kJ/mol = 1849.90 Kcal/mol Mg3+ -> Mg4+ = 10540 kJ/mol = 2521.53 Kcal/mol Mg4+ -> Mg5+ = 13630 kJ/mol = 3260.77 Kcal/mol Mg5+ -> Mg6+ = 17995 kJ/mol = 4305.02 Kcal/mol Mg6+ -> Mg7+ = 21703 kJ/mol = 5192.11 Kcal/mol Mg7+ -> Mg8+ = 25656 kJ/mol = 6137.80 Kcal/mol Mg8+ -> Mg9+ = 31642 kJ/mol = 7569.86 Kcal/mol Mg9+ -> Mg10+ = 35461 kJ/mol = 8483.49 Kcal/mol |
