Magnesium Arsenide, Mg3As2

Magnesium Arsenide, Mg3As2, is prepared as a brown mass with metallic lustre by heating magnesium powder and arsenic in hydrogen. It fuses with difficulty, falls to a powder in air, and reacts with water or dilute acids to form arsine.
